18 week Update -- Almost 1/2 way there!

We are at 18 weeks and everything is going well! I'm starting to feel the baby move which is...different. :) Today we went in for the "big" ultrasound and it was amazing! The baby is 7oz. and the heart rate was at 143 bpm. We were able to see all of the baby's parts--except the parts that tell the gender (we're saving that for August. We were able to see the 4 chambers of the heart, kidneys, spine, arms, legs, etc. I could have stayed on that table all day watching our baby on the screen.

Week 14

OK, to start this blog off I wanted to share something that I have been laughing about for a few days. It's not even remotely close to being PC, but out of the mouth of a 6 year old I guess it doesn't have to be. I didn't get the privilege of witnessing this myself, but my co-worker filled me in....So, one of the darling children in my class came upstairs after indoor recess (which is dreadful, in case you were wondering) -- all hot and sweaty from running around like a maniac and says quietly and very nonchalant, "I wish this was a trailer park so I could take my shirt off." What do you say to that?!?! I'm just glad I didn't have to respond to that one, because I don't think I could have without laughing. I need to start writing this stuff down, because comments like these happen quite often in my little world.


Now a little update on the pregnancy....


We are at 14 weeks and our next appointment is on the 10th! I'm excited to get in and hear the heartbeat. I'll also be meeting a new Dr. that will be seeing me for the next 2 appointments while mine is out on maternity leave. Cross your fingers that she decides to come back, because I really really like her.


My appetite is even better than it was 2 weeks ago and David will say that I'm eating like a human now. The cravings are starting to pick up a bit and I have to say that on 2 consecutive days last week I stopped at Qdoba and picked up tacos.....and they were SO good! I am now attempting to maintain a more healthy diet, key word being attempting.


Last week took me down to Greenwood to meet up with my lovely mother and fabulous mother-in-law for a nice lunch and some shopping. After this trip I had to rearrange my closet to create a new section for all of the maternity clothes. Most of these clothes will be hanging around in there for a while, but when the time comes I will be well dressed. I'm very grateful to have such amazing support from my family...they are the best!


We had our new TV installed last week and it is awesome!! We are looking forward to watching the Super Bowl on it next Sunday!

We're Expecting!

We really enjoyed breaking our news over Christmas with our families. Every one's reaction to the news was priceless and we were able to get some on camera. We hope these don't embarrass any of you!
We are currently 12 weeks along and everything is going well! We are happy to see that first trimester coming to an end. Marissa has experienced some nausea (mostly in the evenings) and fatigue, but that seems to be coming to an end. We are finally starting to eat dinner together again now that Marissa is feeling better in the evenings. Her eating habits have been rather bizarre. Let's just say that dinner the other night consisted of coleslaw and a Totinos pizza because they 'sounded good' while she was shopping. David gets A- for making this first trimester a pleasant one for all of us. He only gets an A- because he decided that fish was a great idea for dinner the other night....that was not a great idea!

The baby has a strong heartbeat and the doctor says everything looks good! We had the chance to see the little bean at 10 weeks on an ultrasound. It was really neat seeing the baby move around, hear and see the heartbeat, and just know that everything was progressing as it should. We can't wait until we can see how much the baby has grown at our next ultrasound around 18 weeks!

We seem to be making no progress what-so-ever on names for this baby. Our list changes daily and every time we take one off the list we find another one to add to it. Hopefully by August we will have it narrowed down a little bit more! We have been making progress on the nursery decor though! We've picked out the colors and several other components. This baby may not have a name, but at least the nursery will be cute!!

It's been a while!

It has been a few months since we've posted anything! Just a quick update.....

Summer flew by! David landed a great job with a pilot program called Summer Advantage. He worked his tail off for 6 weeks as the program director for 2 sites! Great work experience for him! He was definitely glad to have that 2 week break before school started up again! During that 2 week break Marissa managed to get in a surprise 30th birthday celebration for him! It was great to have so many friends and family members over for the occasion! We got in a weekend in Chicago with the Newharts for a White Sox game and a trip to the Shedd.

We celebrated our 1st anniversary on July 26th! We went canoeing. Very relaxing. :)

While David is back at school with his 3rd graders, Marissa is busy with the 13 kindergarteners in her class. We both have a great group of kids this year and are looking forward to this school year! Marissa is just thrilled that summer camp is over and she can get back to doing what she likes best.

Looking forward to several great events this fall! Will try to keep this thing updated more often!

Wildlife Preserve

It's Official! We have the worst yard in the neighborhood! David has now deemed this uncontrollable plot of land that our house sits on 'The Noblesville Wildlife Preserve.' Which isn't too far from the truth. Our lawn is filled with a ridiculous amount of dandelions, clovers, and a variety of other weeds which probably have names that no one can really pronounce. We are crossing our fingers that all of these weeds are in the process of dying a slow and ruthless death after this week's dose of Weed-B-Gone. We've also noticed that our lawn is striped....yep, striped! Thick horizontal stripes of light green and dark green span the yard from back to front. Looking around -- no other lawn has this effect! We must be special. So special in fact that we have the pleasure of housing a rabbit under our deck. This rabbit has not only etched a path in our backyard to the fence line, but is also a very determined little thing. We tried to block the access holes around the deck only to find new holes made a few days later! I'm thinking we should give our little rabbit friend a name...any suggestions? I'm also waiting to see little baby bunnies hopping around the yard. Planting our garden this year will be interesting...That is if the kildeer don't attack us as we are bent over digging holes in the soil. Those things LOVE our yard almost as much as they love waking us up on the weekend at 6 a.m.!....must be the abundance of weeds to eat. We currently have a nest with 4 eggs by the littlest tree in the yard. Cross your fingers that David doesn't come out of an afternoon of mowing the lawn with puncture wounds from an angry momma bird in addition to the back ache that he already has because our yard is extremely uneven. Needless to say, we don't plan on bothering the nest.
Despite all of this we are still very determined (even more so than the rabbit) to undo this mess. With the help of Scott's turf builder we hope to have our lawn in better shape by the end of the summer. We'd rather not be the embarrassment of the cul-de-sac this time next year!

OK -- done with my rant ....

Drew turns 2!

We really enjoyed spending the weekend in St. Louis with the Trits (David's sister's family). We celebrated Drew's 2nd birthday with great food and an awesome train cake that Andrea created! We even took some time to watch some NCAA basketball during the festivities(pictured above). David and his dad went to the women's final 4 games Sunday evening as well!

We are looking forward to relaxing this week in Florida for spring break!

Family Weekend

Marissa's family came in to town for the weekend and a lot was accomplished! The wall was cut out of the coat closet and we now have storage under the stairs! We were even able to clean up the garage a bit and alleviate some of our embarrassment over that space by breaking down boxes and utilizing the peg board. The glider that Marissa's dad made was partially stained as well!!!
